Oil Spill
Oil is STILL leaking from the pipe. Some scientists are questioning the amount being released (200,000,000 gallons a day) saying that it may be more. Several efforts to stop have been inserting a chemical to break the oil into tiny drops to stop flow or inserting a giant straw thing. Pres. Obama says that the government will not stop until the oil is cleaned up.
Immigration
Two immigrants or telling their stories. They both came to the USA to escape financial difficulties. They have similar stories, but one is here illegally. She is being kept out of many colleges because of the choice her parents made to move her here without a citizenship. But with the new dream act, she may have a chance. It allows immigrants to go to school as long as they have good grades. But those opposed say that it will encourage illegal behavior and more people will come here. The other who is here legally, waited 10 years to to get his citizenship. He doesn't feel that it is right to have to compete for acceptances with those who are breaking the law. I personally discourage the dream act because it is allowing people to break the law. Immigration when legal is terrific, but when it's illegal, it harms the country and legal residents have to compete for benefits and jobs.
